So a little back story for this piece, I drew this when I was up late at night playing games with friends as sort of a banner and i really like how it turned out and looking back on it now I want to refine it to a more polished degree. I also wan to be able to improve my artistic capability over all.

This is the game that I am attempting to create in Unity with the little time we have left in school. Below is my first info graphic and pitch. Under the info graphic is some simple art that was designed to be the background for the game. I do plan on working on this game over the summer and I will try to post regular updates on how its going. So far I have managed to get a playable character up and running. The only problem right now is I cant figure out how to get the animations to work properly and the hit boxes are slightly off set but other than that its a workable demo and I am really exited on what I have been able to accomplish.
Blogging this year has been pretty fine nothing to really complain about It has been nice to update the blog. Yea the blogs definitely helped me learn and think about the work that was done and I am ready to continue working on the blog posts over the summer and into AGAD.
So this sketch has some history behind it, the specific knight shown here is a Heide Knight from a relatively semi popular game Dark Souls 2 and this specific knight is my favorite in the entire series. When I sat down to draw this I actually learned a little technique about my drawing style. It showed up when I was working on the right arm, I was using a larger brush to outline the arm which I planned to do for the rest of the image. The problem occurred when I took a step back to review my work I realized that the outline just made the image glaringly poor. Then I realized that my art style shines when I use smaller brushes the image just works better that way. So expect higher quality work from me in the future. During the past two years studying games I have certainly learned a lot about how the gaming industry works and functions. Personally when I get a job, I want to aim for the more artistic side of game design. I think I would like to be a graphic designer, a marketer, or conceptual artist. The main reason I want to be drawing instead of coding should be somewhat obvious to the people that know me. I hate coding. I can't seem to use or execute coding correctly. Now, I do know the importance of coding and why without it we wouldn't even be able to use a computer but writing code is not something that is coming naturally to me. On the other hand communication in general has been almost second nature for me. In the past two years and even before that I have worked with multiple groups on various things ranging from school work to personal projects. I feel like all that is good practice for future events building games.
This is an age old question but if a world wide apocalypse just occurred how would humanity respond what would you personally do how would you respond where would you go. Personally I would try and find as many survivors as possible and group them together in a Costco or something. That was best case scenario though, there are a million ways that my plan could crash and burn. So what are some other ways you would tackle the apocalypse, I would like too know.
I super love the newest entry in the Zelda series. The colors are bright and vibrant and link wearing blue is the greatest thing ever. This game really reminds me of Windwaker with all the blue now that I think about it. So obviously I had too draw the newest link in the franchise. Enjoy.
So I get asked this question a lot, "how did you get so good at drawing." Now personally I'm not super amazing at drawing I still have a lot to learn about art in general, but the best way to "get good" is to practice. I know that sounds corny but that is honestly the best way to get started. You probably wont be satisfied with what you make at first, but soon enough your going to learn little tricks to make your art look that much better. If you can keep this up soon enough other people will be asking you the same question "how are you so good at drawing", and you will know the reason why.
First of all, I hate C# and I hate coding in general because it is tedious and really confusing. The only way I have been able to keep up with C# and Unity so far is by moving at a much slower pace than my peers. I am being as careful and precise as I can and I am still running into trouble. The biggest help so far has been copying down notes of different codes but this has still not prevented me from running into issues. The hardest thing for me to remember is to end off a statement, for instance this is an incomplete statement.
void OnDisable() { Debug.Log("stuffstuff") This would be the correct way to end this statement. void OnDisable() { Debug.Log("stuffstuff"); } These minor mistakes can ruin hours of work if you do not know what to look for. We are going to use Unity in my game design class which is an odd turn of events and one that I am semi-excited about. Let me explain. Unity is a game engine that a lot of large companies use to make games. We will be working with professional grade tools which is exciting, yet at the same, Unity requires a basic understanding of the coding language C Sharp. I have zero experience with coding, let alone C Sharp. Regardless of all this, I think I'd rather be using Unity because it is much more important to start learning something early and getting more experience. My overall impression of Unity is that it is more diverse and will be able to do more than Game Maker. It is more complex and expansive than what we have seen and used before. The biggest thing that sets it apart is the coding, which is also what has me worried. The easiest thing for me will probably be the implementation of assets in Unity. I'll be able to make my own assets which will be helpful and fun since I like to draw.
