So a little back story for this piece, I drew this when I was up late at night playing games with friends as sort of a banner and i really like how it turned out and looking back on it now I want to refine it to a more polished degree. I also wan to be able to improve my artistic capability over all.

This is the game that I am attempting to create in Unity with the little time we have left in school. Below is my first info graphic and pitch. Under the info graphic is some simple art that was designed to be the background for the game. I do plan on working on this game over the summer and I will try to post regular updates on how its going. So far I have managed to get a playable character up and running. The only problem right now is I cant figure out how to get the animations to work properly and the hit boxes are slightly off set but other than that its a workable demo and I am really exited on what I have been able to accomplish.
Blogging this year has been pretty fine nothing to really complain about It has been nice to update the blog. Yea the blogs definitely helped me learn and think about the work that was done and I am ready to continue working on the blog posts over the summer and into AGAD.
So far this year, we have been working with the Unity game engine for creating 2D video games. However, there are lots of different game engines available that we could use for this purpose. Another engine that is commonly used by professionals in the game industry is Unreal Engine 4. UE4 handles coding a little differently than Unity. UE4 uses what are known as Blueprints, a more graphically oriented manner of writing code. Blueprints provide a quick and easy way for writing many of the functions that a game might need than straight out C# scripting but at times, the programmer does need to resort back to coding using C++. Although I am running into some technical problems at the moment, I would really like to switch us over next school year. For this post, I want you to examine the UE4 website and how coding is accomplished, then reflect upon how you would feel about changing game engines if I can find a way to allow it to run on our classroom computers. Go into detail, and make sure you examine some of the UE4 tutorials under the Learn menu option.
Personally I would love to use Unreal Engine to build games I would be able to understand everything much better with the way they handle coding. So personally I would be able to keep up much easier and I would be able to work much faster and more efficient. |
