When I started drawing when I was younger, I had people tell me that I couldn't draw at all. In my mind, that was a challenge to show them they were wrong. I kept experiementing with the things I was doing until I learned how to improve my drawing. Failure has motivated me in a lot of ways. Now I'm pretty confident in my ability to draw and I really enjoy art in general. I even draw for other people.
In ten years, I want to have a job that involves art and video games. I would love to work as a concept artist for a video game company. I would define success at that point by having a job that I liked, with people that I enjoy working with, and having enough cash to keep me stable. Here are the steps for my ten year plan:
- Graduate from DSA after studying art and game design. (Get good grades and continue to improve my artwork by drawing every day).
- Look for an apprenticeship in art. (Research possible opportunities and apply).
- Go to college and major in art. (Apply to schools that have good art programs).
- Look for work as a concept artist and work on developing new video games.
