This information is important to me because when I become a developer of any media I will need to be aware of the cause and effect of copyright law. I want to make a living creating game art and I want to protect my work. The easiest way to protect my work is to set up Content ID so that my artwork does not get stolen or used without permission. I think the current state of the copyright law is a good start, but it is far from perfect. It is a decent system but doesn't always work. From the creator's point of view, it gives them a lot of control of their work. An infringer can have big consequences like big fines and jail time. On the other side, creative work is meant to be shared. The more it's shared, the better for the developer.
My opinion on piracy is that it is wrong. It devalues the work of the creator. It's important for people not to use pirated material and to respect the effort the creators put into making the art. In my daily life, I don't pirate material. If one of my friends was sharing games or music illegally, I would tell them about the problems they are creating for themselves and the developer.
